The cost of a residential energy audit is usually $350-$500, depending on the
size of the home. The cost will be quoted during the initial phone call. The
variability in cost is associated only with the size and complexity of the home.
Feel free to call Mark Hunter @ 603-969-2257 to discuss your home. It is likely
that potential for improvement of your home and/or eligibility for rebate and
incentive programs can be determined over the phone.

The Efficiency Maine Home Energy Savings Program (HESP) provides rebates to
homeowners who have energy efficiency improvements done to their home. This is
not a tax credit, but a direct rebate of up to $3,000. The qualifying
improvements are for any upgrades relative to making the home more energy
efficient, such as insulation upgrades, heating appliance upgrades, and window
and door replacement.
There are no income limitations. This is for everyone.
To qualify a house must show a 25% percent savings potential. This is very
achievable in many Maine homes.
There are two Tiers of eligibility. Modest Savers, in tier one, have a 25%
savings potential and will receive 30% of improvement costs including energy
audits, up to a $1500 total rebate. Big savers, in tier two, which are shown to
have a 50% potential savings, will receive the same 30% up to $3000.
Additionally, most improvements are eligible for the same tax credits you may
know of already. The extra $1000 Summer promotion must be applied for by
September 30, 2010
The goal of Tight House is to help homeowners achieve calculable savings through
weatherization upgrades. Additionally valuable natural resources are preserved
and homes are made more valuable, comfortable and safe. This new incentive
program makes any decision concerning energy upgrades much easier.
